City Hosts Blood Drive At Troy Community Center
Tomorrow's Red Cross Event Will Augment Local Blood Supply

The City of Troy will sponsor a Red Cross Blood Drive tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 4 from 9am to 8:45pm at the Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois. In a statement, officials said that the blood drive will “supplement critically low blood supplies in the area.”
Troy’s Community Affairs office is scheduling appointments to donate, and can be reached at (313) 300-9617 or (248) 524-1147. Residents who’d like to schedule online can visit the Red Cross’ blood donation website and using the access code “troy.” Walk-ins are also welcome, but will require photo ID or a Red Cross Donor Card. Blood donors have to be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good general health.
“The blood needs of our community can only be met by support from volunteer blood donors,” City of Troy Community Affairs Director Cindy Stewart said in a statement. “Donations are critical for burn victims, open-heart surgeries, some chemotherapy and leukemia patients, and disaster relief. One donation can help save the lives of up to three people.”
