Counterfeit Cash Leads To Alleged Assault
A seller thought he had $700 cash in hand for his just sold Cartier C'Dior Glasses, but discovered it was fake. Punching ensued.

TROY, MI — Troy Police are investigating a possible assault and battery case after a man was punched several times inside a 14 Mile Road Dick’s Sporting Goods Store. Police reports said the man posted an ad on the social media platform SnapChat to sell his Cartier C’Dior Glasses.
He ended up arranging to sell the glasses to an 18-year-old Sterling Heights man at the store on Monday shortly before 1 p.m. Police reports said the Sterling Heights man paid the seller $700 for the glasses.
But the seller quickly discovered that the cash was counterfeit. Police reports said he walked up the Sterling Heights man as he was leaving the store and put his hand on his shoulder.

The suspect turned around and began punching the victim. The suspect dropped the glasses which caused them to break and then left the store. Troy Police later contacted the Sterling Heights man.

Police reports said the suspect was evasive, but eventually admitted that he knew the money was counterfeit but gave the victim the money as a joke. He stated he thought he was about to be assaulted and struck the victim. Troy Police said an investigation is pending and that no charges have been filed to this point.
