Crash Kills 1, Injures 8 on I-75 In Troy

A man was killed early Sunday morning in a crash on I-75 near Adams Road.

TROY, MI — A 22-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning in Troy when the vehicle he was riding in struck a party bus on northbound I-75 south of Adams Road. While the crash remains under investigation, Troy Police believe that alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor.

The accident happened at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Eight occupants of the party bus suffered minor injuries and were treated at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac.

The bus was stopped on the shoulder due to a mechanical issue when it was struck by a 2003 yellow Pontiac Sunfire traveling on the shoulder, Troy Police said in a news release. The passenger in the Pontiac Sunfire was killed as a result of the crash. He was pronounced dead on scene, removed from the vehicle by the Troy Fire Department and turned over to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.
