Culture Fair at Troy Library, Blackthorn Concert and More

1. Culture Fair at Troy Public Library

When: Sunday, Sept. 22, 1-4 p.m.
Where: Troy Public Library (510 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy)
What: Why travel the world when the world can come to you? All members of the community are invited to drop by to enjoy food, dance, and more, free of charge.

2. Blackthorn Concert

When: Thursday, Sept. 19. 7 p.m.
Where: Troy Community Center (3179 Livernois Rd., Troy) Room 304/305
What: Enjoy traditional songs of emigration, sea shanties, lively jigs and reels, and ancient airs combined with some of Ireland’s best contemporary songs. Band members play multiple instruments, including wooden flute, accordion, tin whistle, five string banjo, and cittern, bones, complimenting the lead vocals of Belfast native Richard McMullan and the band’s four-part harmony.

3. Troy Athens Band And Orchestra Used Instrument Sale

When: Saturday, Sept. 21, 1-4 p.m.
Where: Athens High School cafeteria (4333 John R Rd., Troy)
What: If you have a used instrument(s) in working order that you would like to sell, please hold on to it (them) for the used instrument sale. The appraisal of the used instruments will be from 9 a.m. until noon with the sale in the 
afternoon. Of the proceeds, 20 percent will benefit the band and orchestra programs with the remainder going to the seller.
