Fast-Thinking Man Blocks In Suspected Drunk Driver At A Gas Station

Troy police report that the man blocked in the suspected drunk driver and took his keys.

TROY, MI — A drunk driver was thwarted by a fast-acting man at a gas station, according to a press release.

The incident happened at BP Gasoline Station at 2989 Crooks Rd. on Dec. 26, 2016 at 10:21 p.m. A man alerted 9-1-1 of a suspected intoxicated driver behind the wheel of a gray 2016 Ford Expedition. The man blocked the driver in and took his keys.

Arriving officers spoke with the suspected drunk driver, a 27-year-old Troy man, who said he consumed two drinks of alcohol. Police report he performed poorly on several sobriety evaluations and his Preliminary Breath Test result came in at .159%. He was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol.
