Fun Indoor Options For Kids In Troy This Weekend

Temps Below Freezing Make Inside the Place To Be

The freezing temperatures closed Troy schools for parts of the week, leaving many parents in search of indoor activities for their little ones. This weekend will be just as frigid, so here's a list of fun inside places to help your family stay active and engaged while avoiding the brutal temperatures outside.

Troy Community Center
3179 Livernois
This 127,000 square-foot facility is a great place to spend a frosty winter day. There’s an indoor aquatic center, including a splash zone and waterslides. There are varying rates for accessing the community center’s facilities. Day passed for adults are $11 (nonresident) and $9 (resident), while kid’s passes are $9 (nonresident) and $6 (resident)

AirTime Trampoline and Game Park
662 East Big Beaver Road
Trampolines. Foam “mosh” pits. Dodgeball. All available, all day long. What better way to stay warm in this freezing weather than to jump til you can’t move? Weekends, the park is open from 10 am - 11 pm on Saturdays and 10 am - 8 pm on Sundays. Three hours of jumping will cost you $15.

Under The Sea Indoor Playground
78 West Maple Road
With an indoor play structure and dozens of fun activities for little ones, Under The Sea is a great place to get out…from under the weather. The facility has a full menu full of kid-friendly favorites like pizza and hotdogs, a full coffee bar for grownups, and they also host kids’ parties, if you need a solid birthday option. Under the Sea has an interactive floor system designed to keep your kids in motion. There’s a kinetic sand table, a central play structure for children ages 4 to 12, and a special toddlers’ area for little ones ages 1-4. The business asks children not to forget to wear socks. All-day play for kids over 2 is $9, tykes ages 12-23 months play for $5.

Troy Public Library
510 W. Big Beaver Rd.
While the library is always a great indoor place, this weekend, the Troy Public Library ups their wintertime game with a kids’ learning event. Kids ages 3-7 and their parents are welcome to attend Where Animals Winter tomorrow, Saturday Jan 6, from 2 pm - 3 pm. The event will teach little ones about where a variety of creatures go for warmth on the coldest days. According to the library website. “As fall turns to winter, some animals migrate, some animals hibernate, and some stay here and active. Through stories, games, hands-on activities, and LIVE animal observations, learn which animals do what in order to survive our cold Michigan winters.” Registration for the free event is required. Visit the library’s event page to register online. If you have older kids, the library remains a solid bet - there’s a “tech farm” with digital devices to help kids become media literate, not to mention books to help them become literate literate, and a wide variety of cosy reading spots perfect for avoiding the cold.
