Guest Fires Shot At Troy Hotel: Police

Hotel staff told police they were evicting partying occupants out of a room when one stated he had a gun.

TROY, MI — A teenage boy who went to a hotel room party has been arrested for reportedly firing a gun on the hotel property, according to a police report.

Troy police were dispatched to Hawthorne Suites at 2600 Livernois Ave. on Jan. 7 at 1:25 a.m. on a report of a gunshot. Hotel staff told officers they were evicting occupants out of a room that was having a party when one occupant said he had a gun, while keeping his hand in his pocket. Officers spoke with several nearby patrons, who confirmed hearing a gunshot.

A green 2003 Oldsmobile Alero drove into the hotel parking lot and two subjects approached it and one hopped inside. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the Alero and sitting inside was a 17-year-old Warren man that hotel staff confirmed was the man who earlier said he had a gun. At his feet inside the vehicle was a handgun with multiple empty shells nearby.

Officers placed the teenager under arrest and he was found to be in possession of the firearm. He was arrested for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Minor Who Possessed / Consumed / Purchased Alcohol after it was determined that he had consumed alcohol.
