Heavy Rain Floods Neighborhoods Friday; More Rain Expected Saturday

Sunday is forecast to be dry and partly sunny.

Thunderstorms moved through the area Friday afternoon and evening, dumping heavy rain and flooding roads and parking lots in Troy.

According to photographer Bob Krizmanich, the parking lots of and  were both partially underwater Friday evening.

At Sanctuary Lake, vehicles had to use an alternate service exit to avoid the flooding, and at Nino's, Krizmanich said some drivers went around the puddle while others plowed straight through.

Additional rain is expected today, and Sunday is forecast to be dry. Here's a look ahead at the weather from weather.gov:

  • Saturday: Showers likely, mainly before 3 p.m. Cloudy with a high near 71. Northwest wind 14 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Saturday Night: A chance of showers, mainly before 8 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. West northwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
  • Sunday: Partly sunny with a high near 80. West wind around 9 mph.
  • Sunday Night: Partly cloudy with a low around 64. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.
