Hookah Bar Patron Found with a Big Bag of Pot, Troy Police Say

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

A 24-year-old Southfield man was cited for possession of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia in the parking lot of a Troy hookah bar.

Police said that at about 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 11, officers confiscated a large bag of marijuana and a marijuana grinder from the man, who had an expired medical marijuana card.

The incident took place at Mist Hookah Lounge on 37713 Dequindre Rd. That bar and others were subject to media reports last spring, when Troy City Council unanimously voted to enact new rules that hookah bars should close at 12 midnight. Police said that they had patrolled the lot and approached the man's car due to recent complaints of drinking and drug use in the parking lot.
