Learn How Smart Kids Can be with Smart Phones and More This Week

- Troy Youth Assistance presents a free workshop designed to cover what parents need to know about children and smart phones. The workshop, hosted by Troy Police Officer of the Year, Detective Krissy Shuler, is scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 7 at at the Troy Fire and Police Training Center (4850 John R Rd.). The workshop starts at 7 p.m.
- The Troy Schools Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Athens High School (4333 John R Rd.). The meeting takes place at 7 p.m. For a look at the agenda, visit the district's website.
- The Troy-Clawson Republican Forum hosts an opportunity to meet those who are running for Troy City Council on Tuesday at the Troy Community Center, room 301 (3179 Livernois Rd.). The meet and greet starts at 7:30 p.m. Desserts and light refreshments will be served.
- The Absolute Shreds truck will be in the north parking lot of the Troy Community Center for on-site paper shredding from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday. The event is limited to private individuals with up to four boxes per household of paper documents.
- Iconic Medial Skin and Laser Center will host an open house at the Troy Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the first 100 people to RSVP will receive a free gift.
