Man Uses His Baby Daughter As A Shield: Police
Oakland County Sheriff's Office Deputies say the man reportedly punched his girlfriend before using their daughter as a shield.

PONTIAC, MI — A 26-year-old man is facing charges after reportedly punching his girlfriend and using their seven-month-old daughter as a shield against police, according to a press release.
The incident happened on Jan. 1 at 2:27 a.m. A 23-year-old woman told Oakland County Sheriff's Office Deputies that her boyfriend punched her several times in the face during an argument. He also reportedly took her cellphone to prevent her from calling 9-1-1, however the woman was able to secretly escape from the residence and went to a family member's home to call the Sheriff's Office for help. The woman alerted Deputies her boyfriend and their seven-month-old daughter were still in their home in the 90 block of Rutgers Ave.
Deputies headed to the Rutgers Ave. home and upon arriving at the scene, noticed the suspect looking out from a window. They watched the suspect pick up and put down the baby girl several times.

Deputies forced entry into the residence and found the suspect inside using the baby as a shield. A Deputy safely secured the baby girl away and she didn't suffer any injuries. Child Protective Services were notified.
The suspect was transported to the Oakland County Jail and charges are pending.
