Police find stolen handgun, marijuana in speeding driver's car
Troy Police officer stopped a vehicle traveling 89 mph on Interstate 75 near Long Lake the afternoon of Aug. 23. The driver gave officers a fake name and was arrested for driving without a valid license.
According to the Troy Police Department, officers found marijuana and a stolen handgun upon searching the vehicle. The 18-year-old Detroit man was fingerprinted in Troy lock-up and his true identity determined.

The teen was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, driving while license was suspended, and hindering and obstructing a police officer by false identification.
Police cite barking dog's owner
Troy officers responded to the 4000 block of Hubbard the evening of Aug. 25 after a neighbor complained about a barking dog. The officer cited the resident for "barking dog." It is the fourth time officers have been to the home for a barking dog complaint since May.

Teen girls fight at Skate World
Troy Police responded to just after 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 after receiving a report that a 12-year-old girl had assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
According to police, the 12-year-old girl pulled the 15-year-old girl's hair and punched her several times, though the victim was not injured. The 12-year-old girl has been banned from Skate World, and both girls were turned over to their parents.
Thief breaks into Radio Shack, steals empty box
A passerby called Troy police Sunday evening after walking by Radio Shack and seeing that the front window to the store had been smashed. The responding officer determined the window had been broken with a sledgehammer, but that the only item missing from the store was an empty box that was part of a display.
Suspected drunken driver flips off police officer
A Troy officer was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 near Rochester Road the evening of Aug. 24 when he observed a car trying to merge a few cars ahead of him, where there was not room to merge.
According to a media release from the police department, the officer observed the vehicle slow and eventually merge into traffic, then speed up to 84mph. When the officer pulled up next to the speeding vehicle, the driver gave the officer the finger.
The officer pulled the vehicle over and noticed the driver smelled of intoxicants. The driver, a 34-year-old Ferndale woman, admitted to having five glasses of wine, according to the report. She failed sobriety tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
The woman was given a preliminary breath test; results of the test were 0.26 – more than three times the legal limit of 0.08. The woman also has a previous drinking and driving conviction.
