More than $4,000 worth of merchandise was recently stolen from a Somerset South Mall store, according to Troy Police reports. Two men described only as “black males” got away with the items from Versace. A 25-year-old Flint woman was questioned in connection with the incident, but not charged, Troy Police Sgt. Meghan Lehman said.
An assistant store manager stopped the Flint woman after she was seen with the men, reports said. The woman told Troy officers she didn’t know the men but that she was forced to distract a Versace employee while the took several belts valued at about $500 each, Lehman said. The incident occurred on July 28.

Officers found a shopping bag that contained merchandise from a second store, reports said. The Flint woman told Troy Police the bag belonged to one of the male suspects who, again, had forced her to carry it. Merchandise from the Fossil Store was found in the bag and valued at $510, reports said.
The Flint woman was released pending further investigation. Lehman said the case is being sent to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
