Troy Firefighter Injured Battling House Fire

A Troy firefighter was treated for a minor heat injury Friday afternoon after fighting a fire that may have been cause by a lightning strike, according to a media release from the .

A neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the one-story home on Pinehill Drive around 3:30 p.m. Units from Fire Stations 3, 4 and 6 arrived to find smoke and fire showing from the north side of the single-family home, which was unoccupied at the time, save for the family's dog. 

Firefighters quickly removed the dog, which was unhurt, and extinguished the fire inside the home, though not before the fire spread to the attic, where additional efforts were needed to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters were on the scene for just under three hours.   

During the incident, a firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was treated on scene, then transported to an area hospital for evaluation as a precaution. The firefighter was released that evening.

No other structures were damaged in the fire, which is still under investigation.
