Troy is Tops Among Michigan Towns for Young Families
The honor comes courtesy of nerdwallet.com.

Troy racked up another media honor this week, as nerdwallet.com, a personal finance website, named the city as best in the state to raise a young family.
The website used three main criteria in ranking the communities: Quality of public schools, cost of living and the community's economy and growth.
"Education here is phenomenal. Not just one but in fact all of the district’s schools has earned a Blue Ribbon from the Department of Education. That’s a grade-A education from kindergarten to senior year of high school," Anderson wrote.
The rankings also took into account the following figures:
- Median home value:Â $237,000
- Monthly owner costs:Â $2,002
- Median household income:Â $85,946
- Growth from 1999-2011:Â 10.8Â percent
Troy also earned honors from Family Circle magazine, earlier this summer, based on similar criterion.Â
