Troy Official Appointed To Michigan Council For Arts

Governor Rick Snyder Taps Topouzian For Role

Governor Rick Snyder has named Ara Topouzian to the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, according to the Troy Chamber of Commerce. Topouzian, President/CEO of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, will serve on the 15-member council. Part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the council “helps create an environment of artistic, creative, and cultural activity to support Michigan’s quality of life and economic vitality,” according to the chamber’s statement.

“This group of individuals has a wide range of experience that I believe is well suited to help support the arts and cultural activities in Michigan,” Michigan Governor Rick Snyder said in a press release recognizing the appointees.

In addition to service as the President and CEO for the Troy Chamber, Topouzian formerly served as economic development director for the City of Novi, and is a board member of Creative Many Michigan.

“Michigan has a vibrant creative economy and I am excited to volunteer my time for the efforts to help strengthen our economy,” Topouzian said. Topouzian was named president of the Troy Chamber of Commerce in 2013.
