Troy Police Confiscate Gun During Traffic Stop

Detroit Driver Lacked Permit For Firearm

Troy police say they found a handgun during a recent traffic stop, leading them to arrest the driver. On Dec. 23, after pulling over a 23-year-old Detroit resident, officers allegedly found the unloaded gun in the glove compartment.

Officers say they conducted the stop shortly after midnight on Dec. 23 in the Walmart lot at 2001 W. Maple Road, after the driver narrowly missed hitting their police cruiser. The driver opened the glove compartment looking for his registration, and officers say they saw the gun at that time. The driver could not locate his license, proof of insurance or the registration. Police confiscated the gun and arrested the driver.
