Troy Police Respond to Drunk Driving Calls and More

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud

Apple Store, 2800 W. Big Beaver Rd., Dec. 7, 12 noon: Complainant advised someone activated two phones using his personal information. Complainant stated no one had permission to use his information.

1000 block of Brookdale, Dec. 15, 4:11 p.m.: Complainant advised she received a letter from Cash Advance America stating she owed them $703.33. Complainant advised she has never had any dealings with Cash Advance America before.

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs

East Fourteen Mile Road and John R Road, Dec. 28, 1:23 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for a “no turn on red” violation. The interior of the vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and smoking marijuana. Officers found marijuana in the console and an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The passenger was found to have marijuana on her person. The driver, a 30-year-old from Rochester, failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating under the presence of drugs, possession of marijuana, and open intoxicants in motor vehicle. The passenger, an 18-year-old from Sterling Heights, was cited for possession of marijuana and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

Interstate-75 and Rochester Road, Dec. 28, 5:19 a.m.: Troy officers stopped to assist a motorist in the ditch. The driver smelled strongly of intoxicants and had slurred speech. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 28-year-old from Waterford, had a prior conviction for drunk driving and was arrested for operating while intoxicated (second offense).

Rochester Road and Marengo Street, Dec. 29, 12:39 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after observing it drive over the curb in a parking lot. Officers detected an odor of intoxicants coming from inside the vehicle. The driver had bloodshot eyes and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 26-year-old from Eastpointe, was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .21 percent.

Larcenies

Airtime Trampoline and Game Park, 662 E. Big Beaver Rd., Dec. 28, 9:59 p.m.: Complainant advised he left his iPad on a bench to check on his children. When he returned it was missing.

Larcenies from autos

1027 E. 14 Mile Rd., Dec. 24, 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Complainant advised her vehicle was parked in the lot, when she returned she discovered someone had stolen the catalytic converter off of the vehicle.

Big Beaver Tavern, 631 E. Big Beaver Rd., Dec. 28-29, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.: Complainant advised his vehicle was in the lot when he returned he discovered the rear passenger window smashed out and three purses had been removed from the vehicle.

Malicious destruction of property

1000 block of Lila, Dec. 19-20, 7 p.m. to 12 noon: Resident reported her mailbox had been smashed.
