Whipping Winds Wreak Havoc Across Troy
The Troy Fire Department reports that powerful wind sent traffic signals crashing to the ground.

TROY, MI — Roaring winds wreaked havoc across town on Jan. 10, according to a press release.
The Troy Fire Department reports that the strong winds took down power lines and sent traffic signals crashing to the ground at Maple and Maplelawn, triggering massive back-ups. Traffic signals can weigh between 30 to 50 pounds, but nobody was hurt when the traffic signals fell.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the grounded traffic signals at 7:11 p.m. and remained there with Troy Police until Oakland County Road Commission workers removed the hazard from the road.
