A trust fund has been established to aid the family of
O’Rourke, the first West Bloomfield Police Officer to die in the line of duty, was the father of four young children and husband to wife Amy.

"So many people, both residents and non-residents have contacted us wanting to make a contribution to Officer O’Rourke’s family," said Township Supervisor Michele Economou Ureste. "Those wishing to make contributions may do so at any branch of Bank of America to the 'Officer Patrick O’Rourke Family Trust,'Economou Ureste said.
A candlelight vigil honoring Officer O’Rourke will be held in front of the West Bloomfield Township Police Department this evening. "Those wishing to make contributions to the trust fund may do so this evening at the vigil," said Clerk Catherine Shaughnessy. "While words and money can’t begin to show our appreciation for the sacrifice made by Officer O’Rourke, we want to do whatever we can to help his young family."
