Walled Lake Consolidated Schools Millage Passes

The Walled Lake Consolidated School District Building & Site Sinking Fund passed with 29,091 yes votes, 61.50 percent, and 18,215 no votes, 38.50 percent in the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Some 47,306 citizens voted.

"I sincerely appreciate the commitment our community has made for the next 10 years to keep our buildings in good repair. We promise to continue to be vigilant guardians of the funds entrusted to us. We are committed to providing excellent educational opportunities for our students in a safe learning environment," Superintendent Kenneth Gutman said.

He continued: "I also wish to thank the Citizens for Walled Lake Schools Committee, that included many staff, parents and community members, who worked diligently to communicate the importance of this capital improvement fund. We are very fortunate to live and work in a District that is dedicated to every child, every day."

Walled Lake Schools' community supported its first Building & Site Sinking Fund in 2004 and has been fortunate to be able to repair and replace roofs, boilers, sidewalks, parking lots and much more at its 26 buildings. “This generous support is indicative of what I continually see in Walled Lake. Thank you WLCSD parents, staff and community for everything you did to pass the Sinking Fund for another 10 years. This means we can keep our buildings in good repair for our 15,000 plus students and many more community members who use our buildings throughout the year,” Gutman said.
