What's on the Walled Lake School Board Meeting Agenda?

The Walled Lake Consolidated School District Board of Education is scheduled to meet Thursday at the Educational Services Center, Building D (850 Ladd Rd., Walled Lake). Items on the agenda include:

  • New State Accountability Program for Schools:In July 2012, the Michigan Department of Education announced that its application for an NCLB flexibility (ESEA) waiver was approved. The approval allows MDE to move forward with a number of changes in the way that Michigan schools are held accountable for student achievement. The waiver allows the modification of current accountability standards to reflect the new cuts scores on MEAP and MME assessments. Mr. Mark Hess, Executive Director of Instruction, Technology, and Assessment will present the changes in the new accountability system.
  • Energy Report:A brief update will be provided on the status of the ongoing energy conservation program that continues to be very successful resulting in the conservation of valuable energy resources.
  • Supervisor of Reproductive Health Education: Public Act 226 of 1977 also requires that a district sponsoring a program of reproductive health education appoint a supervisor of the program. The supervisor coordinates the activities of the advisory board and helps evaluate the teaching/learning process for improvement of instruction. Administration recommends the re-appointment of Mr. Nayal Maktari for the 2012-13 school year.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. To view the agenda, go to wlcsd.org.
