Diamond Jewelry, Cash Taken from West Bloomfield Home

Police say the break-in occurred sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

A homeowner in the 4000 block of Champlain Circle in West Bloomfield Township returned home late Monday afternoon to find the house ransacked and $96,000 of jewelry and cash missing.

According to West Bloomfield Township Police Lieutenant Tim Diamond, officers found severe damage to the front door, around the deadbolt lock. Among the items taken were a 4-carat diamond ring valued at $45,000, two necklaces with diamond pendants valued at $25,000, and $1,500 in cash. The case remains under investigation.

Safe deposit box items missing

A 78-year-old West Bloomfield Township resident contacted police after finding items missing from her safe deposit box. Diamond said the woman placed a large number of jewelry items in the box at Huntington Bank on Orchard Lake Road in December of 2012, with the assistance of a bank employee. Some of the items were missing when she re-opened the box in April. The case remains under investigation, Diamond said.

Medication taken from mailbox

A resident in the 4000 block of Trailview contacted police to report blood pressure medication valued at $134 had been taken from his mailbox. Diamond said the empty mailer was left behind, along with the resident's other mail.
