The frozen yogurt flowed freely at Just Peachy in West Bloomfield on Saturday, to celebrate the business' first anniversary.Â
Steven Morris, who opened the business on June 19, 2012 with his wife, Melissa, said Just Peachy has thrived over the past year, even during the coldest winter months. The store distinguishes itself, he said, by offering the "best and healthiest" with non-fat, sugar-free and low-fat options.Â
"We are proud that we have one machine that's certified allergy-free," Steven Morris said. "It's very important for people not to take any chances."Â
One of the highlights of the year, he said, has been establishing a relationship with Hiller's Markets that will put a smaller version of Just Peachy inside the company's 14 Mile and Haggerty store in September.Â
"They want to focus on our Storms," Morris said. The treat is similar to a Dairy Queen Blizzard, "the difference is you make it yourself." A Storm also has half the calories and fat.Â
Store manager Lisa Shapiro said the business has also developed a customer rewards program called "PayCloud". "You show your card or phone app with every purchase, and with $45, you get a $6 gift credit," she said. "It's like an electronic punch-card."Â
The custard and frozen yogurt at Just Peachy are Kosher and gluten-free, and there's a non-dairy vegan option as well. All products are self-serve and priced by weight. Customers can choose from as many as 14 flavors and more than 35 different toppings.
The shop is at 4312 Orchard Lake Rd. For more information, call 248-481-3522.
