1. Briefs: Disaster declaration; State Sen. misconduct charges; New state rep. (mtpr.org) — Bozeman now has a new voice in the state Legislature, as Gallatin County officials appointed local organizer Katie Fire Thunder to fill the House seat representing the city through 2027. The 25-year-old Bozeman native and co-founder of Bozeman Tenants United replaces Ed Stafman, while separate briefs cover a statewide storm disaster declaration and misconduct charges for a state senator.
   

2. Gallatin County Commission appoints Katie Fire Thunder to Legislature (newsfromthestates.com) — Gallatin County commissioners have appointed Bozeman-raised organizer Katie Fire Thunder to fill the remainder of House District 59’s term, which covers southeast Bozeman. Fire Thunder, a co-founder of Bozeman Tenants United and Montana State University alum, says her low-income upbringing and Indigenous background will shape her work before she must run for the seat in 2026.
   

3. Warrant issued for ICE-detained man accused of rape, kidnapping (kulr8.com) — A man previously jailed in Gallatin County is now the subject of an arrest warrant after missing court dates in a case involving serious charges tied to Bozeman Beach. Court records describe how a Bozeman police officer discovered a woman in distress in a parked truck there, leading to an investigation and pending trial the defendant failed to attend.
   

4. MSU Extension explains potential tax savings with Montana medical care savings account (bigsandymountaineer.com) — Bozeman residents still have time to open or add to Montana Medical Care Savings Accounts before Dec. 31 and trim their 2025 state income taxes. MSU Extension in Bozeman explains contribution limits, eligible medical expenses, and how accounts can benefit heirs, with a free detailed guide available online or from local Extension offices.
   

5. Jury decides Bozeman lawyer Michael Rabb not guilty of final two charges (bozemandailychronicle.com) — A Bozeman attorney was acquitted Friday of securities fraud and operating as an unlicensed commodities dealer after a two-week trial in Gallatin County District Court. Jurors deliberated for about a day before clearing him of the final charges, following earlier dismissals of theft, forgery and conspiracy counts tied to a failed hemp venture.
