Body Found Near Red Rock Canyon

Police say a body found near State Route 157 had been decomposing for 4-6 weeks.

LAS VEGAS, NV - The body of a man who was stabbed to death went undiscovered in a portion of the northwest Las Vegas Valley for four to six weeks before the Nevada Department of Forestry discovered it and notified Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sunday night, according to an LVMPD release.

Metro police said they were notified of the body shortly after 5 p.m. on Feb. 25. The body, which was partially decomposed, was found close to Red Rock Canyon near mile marker 10 of State Route 157, police said. According to the release, evidence at the scene indicates the victim was stabbed multiple times.

The identity of the victim has not been released. Detectives have not been able to identify a suspect or motive. Anyone with information about the homicide is encouraged to call LVMPD at 702-828-3521 or 702-385-5555.
