Car Crash Leaves Two Dead In East Las Vegas

Two people were killed after a car crash occurred "at a high rate of speed," Tuesday night in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Two people were killed in a Tuesday night car crash that police say may be related to a street racing incident. Police responded to the crash at 8:59 p.m. on Jan. 30.

A male driving a 1991 Acura Integra was driving on Sahara Ave. "at a high rate of speed while possibly racing an SUV," with another male in the passenger's seat, according to a Metro release. The vehicle lost control as it was approaching Carillo St. and crossed over into the other lane of Sahara Ave. The Acura collided with a Dodge Durango which had two occupants.

The passenger of the Acura was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the Acura was transported to Sunrise Hospital and was pronounced dead. The two occupants of the Durango, a 62-year old male and a 51-year old woman, were brought to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The two deaths are the third and fourth traffic related fatalities LVMPD has investigated so far in 2018.
