Max Jacobson-Freed is one of the Freed’s managing partners. He says the family is excited to bring their signature sweets to downtown Las Vegas. “Being a part of the Arts District has been a really cool opportunity to do something a little different, and I think its shown in this location and its also our smallest location, so it’s kind of an experiment to see what the smallest Freed's looks like.”

The smallest Freed's, 60 E. California Ave. near Main Street and Charleston Boulevard, has some unique elements. Since the store is tucked right in the heart of the Art’s District, the Freed family wanted to create a fun, family atmosphere and offer something that still speaks to the area, like the blue painted floors and a mural that fills two walls in the shop. “We didn’t want to just paint a bunch of cakes on the wall. The narrative is cakes on the brain, you have these creations, these folks all waiting in line with cakes on the brain.”

There’s also a special wall adorned with family portraits to illustrate the rich Freed’s family history. One of the photos on the wall is a personal favorite for Max. “This is one of my favorite photos of my grandmother, Ester Freed. It’s a very knowing smile, here she is decorating some cakes. We just have some lovely photos here.”

This new location will offer various pastries, cookies and other baked goods along with some signature sweets, including Freed’s strawberry shortcake, cannolis and Parisian cake. While this is the fourth Freed’s dessert shop to open, the family has a total of six locations throughout the valley, including inside T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium. Freed’s Bakery also offers nationwide shipping.
