Las Vegas Father Arrested For Infant Daughter's Death: Police

Police arrested a 26-year old man who they say "smothered" his daughter when she would not stop crying, killing the 2 1/2 month old child.

LAS VEGAS, NV - A Las Vegas man has been arrested in connection with the death of this two and a half month old daughter, according to a LVMPD release. Twenty-six year old Cash Ballew turned himself into police who were called to Sunrise Pediatrics Hospital at 5 a.m. on Feb. 5 to investigate the infant's death.

Ballew is in custody facing one count of open murder. Police allege that Ballew "became upset" when his daughter would not stop crying and "smothered" her. The infant's parents realized the baby was unconscious and took her to the hospital. Police say that Ballew left the hospital before officers arrived. He turned himself in later that day.

Ballew is being held at Clark County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
