Stray Bullet Kills Las Vegas Man
Police say a man was stepping outside to feed a stray cat when a bullet fired from the next street over struck and killed him.

LAS VEGAS, NV - A man was killed as he brought leftover food outside to feed a stray cat when a bullet fired in what police called a "drug related shootout" from the next street over traveled through an alley and struck him while he walked down the stairs of his apartment.
The shooting occurred at 7:50 p.m. on New York Ave., just off the Las Vegas Strip. The shots came from outside of an apartment on Chicago Ave. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. Dan McGrath said the shots came from outside of a residence that police have identified as being a "drug house." McGrath said police have received reports of three males wearing hoodies fleeing the scene. The initial report indicated between eight and 10 shots had been fired. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Truly an innocent victim. It's really difficult to talk to the family," McGrath said. "Everything occurred on Chicago (Avenue) and the innocent victim just happened to step outside and walk down a couple of steps and looks like he got struck as he's stepping down the stairs."
