Ax-Wielding Woman Arrested At North Las Vegas Elementary School

A 33-year old woman tried scaling an elementary school fence with an ax on Tuesday, according to police.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV - A woman was arrested by North Las Vegas Police after attempting to scale a chain-link fence at Tom Williams Elementary School on Tuesday. Police responded to the call just before noon.

Kisstal Killough, 33, was carrying a pick ax and attempting to climb a fence of the elementary school while roughly 200 children were outside in the playground on the other side, according to Eric Leavitt, public information officer for North Las Vegas Police Department.

"She was yelling and screaming that she was going to hurt and kill everybody out there," Leavitt said.

The children were outside for lunch and were a "good distance away" from the woman, Leavitt said, but only the chain-link fence separated her from the students.

After receiving the call, officers responded to the scene within one minute, Leavitt said. Killough surrendered to police without incident.

Leavitt said the woman is suspected to be mentally ill and was possibly under the influence of an unspecified drug.
