ATA Hosts Special Abilities Open House this Weekend

Here are five things you should know today.

1. Bedford’s Family Springfest ... is being held on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. through noon at the town payground field, off County Road. The Bedford Police, Fire, and Public Works will have vehicles present for touch and see. The schedule of events is as follows:

  • 10 a.m. - Spring Egg Hunt
  • 10:15 a.m. - Sack Races
  • 10:30 a.m. - Clown Magic Show
  • 11 a.m. - Pie eating contest
  • 11 a.m. - Sunshine Generation Performance(all times are tentative)

Other ongoing events are bubble area, clowns, skin tattoos!

2. Special Abilities Martial Arts Open House. ATA Martial Arts of Southern NH is hosting an Open House on Saturday, May 4th from 1-3 PM for adults, adolescents and children with special abilities and their families.  ATA Martial Arts created Special Abilities classes in 2010 after meeting with special education parent advisory councils to learn from the parent’s point of view what is needed for special abilities students. We accept students throughout the special-needs spectrum including those with high and low-functioning abilities such as ADD and extreme autism and Asperger’s. Please join us during this Open House and let us show you how YOU CAN do Martial Arts. The Open House will be held at our Bedford school at 292 Route 101, Bedford, NH.  Please feel free to contact the school for more information. We look forward to seeing you that day!

3. Mom's Night Out. Bedford High School is sponsoring "Mom's Night Out" on May 8, from 6-8 p.m., in the Bedford High School Commons. A variety of crafts, culinary delights and vendors will be on hand for shopping and an enticing raffle table as well. Shop for Mother's Day or yourself! All vendors' fees and raffle sales will go to benefit the Bedford High School Faculty Scholarship Fund.

5. Weekend weather. More beautiful weather on tap, straight through the weekend. But still no rain in sight. Fire officials continue to warn of very high fire danger as a result of the dry, warm weather.

  • Friday: Sunny, with a high near 66. Northeast wind 5 to 11 mph.
  • Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 69. Light and variable wind becoming northeast 6 to 11 mph in the morning.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 73.
  • Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38.
