- A "Bedford 4 Ukraine" fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 30, starting at 10 a.m. at The Bedford Transfer Station. The fundraiser directly supports Ukrainian refugees through the efforts of longtime Bedford residents Brian Nolen and John Fitzgerald, who just returned from a private 3-week humanitarian mission at the Polish-Ukrainian border. They are raising funds at the Transfer Station fundraiser and through a GoFundMe page. Nolen and Fitzgerald will head back to the Poland-Ukraine border on May 11 for another 3 weeks. - Spring is the perfect time to find unique artisan gifts at The Craftworkers' Guild Spring Fair. The Fair features handmade gifts ranging from art glass, painting and photography to gourmet foods and more, and opens on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m. Shop at the Oliver Kendall House, located just behind the Bedford Library, or shop online, with shipping and curbside pickup, through Saturday, May 7. - The New Hampshire Senate voted down a proposal with the goal of legalizing small amounts of marijuana. Supporters who wanted to legalize marijuana in the state said the law would bring the state "in line with the other New England states," but those who opposed the plan, like Republican Senate Majority Leader Jeb Bradley, said the amendment had no structure for selling it, there were no upper limits for THC, and noted that the laws for alcohol and marijuana under the amendment for those under 21 "were problematic."
