Bedford Drug Take Back Day is This Weekend
Here are five things you need to know today.

1. Safely dispose of your drugs. Bedford Police are collecting all unused and expired prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a great opportunity for those who missed the previous events, or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications. In the five previous take-back events, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in conjunction with our state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners have collected more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications were removed from circulation.
2. Burlington to Boston. Organizers of Key Bank's Vermont City Marathon are offering 150 free race entries to runners of the Boston Marathon who were unable to finish the 26.2 mile jaunt to from Hopkinton to Copley Square after two bombs were detonated at the finish line on Monday, April 15. “Our entire community comes together race weekend to create an atmosphere of celebration,” said KeyBank Vermont City Marathon race director Peter Delaney. “We’re opening our doors to anyone who was unable to finish Boston, so that they can realize the results of their training and continue the healing process.” The race will draw 8,000 runners, another 1,700 volunteers and approximately30,000 spectators, making it New England's second largest marathon behind the world famous Boston Marathon. 3. We're soooo close! Our goal of 1,000 Facebook followers by the end of April is within reach, but we need your help to get there. Bedford Patch entered today with 971 Facebook 'Likes.' With five days left in the month, that's less than six new followers a day! Please, if you haven't already, 'Like' our Facebook page and help us spread the word by going to the page and sharing one of our statuses.
