Bedford to Hold Moment of Silence for Crime Victims
Here are five things you should know today.

1. Take a moment to remember the victims of last week's Boston Marathon bombing. At 2:50 p.m. today, New Hampshire residents are asked to join our neighbors to the south in a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings a week ago. Gov. Maggie Hassan released a statement Sunday asking all Granite Staters join her for the brief remembrance.
2. Bedford to Hold Moment of Silence for National Crime Victims' Rights Week. Perhaps it's just eerie timing, but Bedford Police have, for weeks, also planned a moment of silence at 9 a.m. today, in recognition of the lives lost and the injuries sustained through violent crimes. Sunday marked the beginning of National Crime Victims' Rights Week, which runs from April 21-27. Click here for more information.
3. Hooray for Earth Day! Today we celebrate the Earth and the importance of doing things big and small to make sure we preserve it. 4. Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day. Today is not only Earth Day, it’s Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day! This is Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 21-27. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains wants to thank our 5,500 adult volunteers across New Hampshire and Vermont who are helping to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. In short, they’re building tomorrow’s leaders! Know a Girl Scout volunteer or leader? Say thank you. Had a great leader growing up? Say thank you. GSGWM volunteers are trained and dedicated, and make a difference in the lives of girls every day. They learn marketable skills, enjoy the satisfaction of seeing girls grow in confidence and leadership, have fun, and make lifelong friendships.
