Big Plant Sale this Weekend in Bedford

Here are five things you should know today in Bedford!

1. Planting a positive idea for this weekend. The Bedford Garden Club's annual plant sale takes place on Saturday, May 25, from 9-11 a.m., at Bedford's historic Town Hall at the corner of Meetinghouse and Bedford Center Roads.  Hundreds of hardy plants from members' gardens, both shade and sun-loving perennials, will be available for sale along with selected annuals, perennials, herbs, succulents, and vegetables from a local greenhouse.  This is the club's major fund-raising event of the year. 2. On Confronting the South. New Hampshire People During the Civil War exhibit ... is on display at the Bedford Public Library through June 2. The exhibit features: letters from New Hampshire soldiers written during the Civil War about the day-to-day life of battle are on display in the deNicola Gallery. New Hampshire’s 18 regiments lost 4,882 men during the war. The letters reflect on the ordinary,such as playing cards and football and what was served for dinner. The former shopkeepers, farmers, teachers and blacksmiths also wrote of their eagerness to fight, and of experiencing injuries and deaths. The exhibition is a collabor

3. Bark for your park. Petsafe is going to award a town/city with $100,000 to build a dog park in their town. Through the end of May, please log in and vote for Bedford to win this contest so it can build a place for the dogs to run!  Winning this money would allow Bedford to build the best dog park it can design with plenty of parking for eveyone and lots of great stuff for the dogs and residents to enjoy. 4. Show your pride. Did your child just graduate from college? Make the Dean's list? Earn a Master's degree? Announce it on Patch! An announcement is free and easy to post.
