Bulldogs Take Bite Out of BG

Here are five things you should know today in Bedford.

1. Bulldogs advance. The top-seeded Bedford High School boys tennis team earned a 9-0 victory against Bishop Guertin to advance to the Division I semifinals. The undefeated Bulldogs are now scheduled to face No. 5 Londonderry, which traveled to Keene Tuesday and defeated the Owls, 5-3. The Lancers proved Bedford's toughest competition this season, battling and falling, 6-3 at LHS on May 10. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. this Thursday at the Bedford tennis courts on County Road.

2. Bulldog Bites. The No. 3-ranked Bedford High School girls tennis teams look to follow in the footsteps of their male counterparts when they host sixth-seeded Derryfield School at 4 p.m. today at the County Road tennis courts. The Lady B's fell, 6-3, to the same squad on May 2 and look to ride revenge into the state semifinals. Here is a glance at all today's BHS sports action (obtained from HighSchoolSports.net):

3. The weatherman says .... More rain in the forecast today. According to Weather.com, there is a 100-percent chance of rain today, though temperatures rise to a predicted high of 79 degrees. More thunderstorms, possibly severe, are possible.

4. Dog licencing window is closing. Those looking to register their dog for 2013 may do so without fine for the remainder of the month. Bedford Town Clerk Lori Radke warns that after May 31, late fees will apply, and civil forfeiture fines of $25 will be issued beginning June 21. For the convenience of residents, renewals are available via mail or online through EDOG. The form and EDOG are both located here. Those renewing by mail should be sure to include proof of current rabies vaccination and a self-addressed stamped envelope. The town clerk is also available to license dogs at the Bedford Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. at the Bedford Memorial Town Pool field. Those who no longer have a dog or need additional information are encouraged to contact Radke at 472-3550 or email her at Lradke@bedfordnh.org.
