Chief: Home Invasion Details Would Have 'Irreparably Harmed' Investigation
'The residents of Bedford have a right to know why information regarding this case was so sparse,' said Bryfonski.

The majority of the media availability was focused on providing details regarding the crime and suspects connected to the November 2012 home invasion at 7 Proclamation Court.
Yet before passing the microfone to Hillsborough County Attorney Patricia LaFrance to answer specific questions from the media – during the Friday press conference at the Bedford Public Safety Complex – Bedford Police Chief John Bryfonski said he wanted to take a couple minutes to address the residents of Bedford, specifically.
"I want to take a moment to speak directly to the residents of Bedford New Hampshire, those of whom the Bedford Police Department are sworn to protect and serve every day," he said. "I know many residents have been fearful after learning of the assaults of Doctor Quesada and his wife in November and have been clamoring for information about the case."

Bryfonski then proceeded to read the following statement to address those concerns (watch attached video for complete statement):
First, let me state that Doctor Quesada and his wife Sonia were
assaulted in their home in Bedford. Thus far, investigators have
uncovered no connection between Mr. Normil and Doctor Quesadaor his family. It appears the initial motivation was financial innature.

Second, the residents of Bedford have a right to know why
information regarding this case was so sparse. This investigation was and continues to be a very complex
and involved matter that literally took more than four months
to unravel. During that time, any release of case sensitive
information would have irreparably harmed our ability to arrive
at this juncture today, the arrest of Mr. Normil. Complex and
involved investigative strategies and avenues were employed
during these four months, including the use of the New HampshireFish and Game Dive Team.
I want the residents of Bedford to know that the non-disclosure
of case sensitive information was absolutely essential and criticalin helping us achieve these investigative results. In many cases, Ihave and will continue to engage the public through the media toassist us in our mission; however, there are some cases where thisstrategy is harmful; this was one of those cases.
Finally, I want the residents of Bedford and their families to knowthe Bedford Police Department has and continues to be dedicatedto their protection and will take all legal and prudent means toassure their safety each and every day and night.
Although Bedford continues to be one of safest communities in
New Hampshire, we must remember that we all live in a highly
mobile society, where crime and criminals move from street to
street, town to town, city to city and state to state with relative easeand speed.
Therefore, I again remind our citizens to help us in our mission
to protect them; See Something – Say Something; continue to
take the same reasonable and prudent safety and precautionarymeasures in and around your home every day and night.
Once extradited to New Hampshire, the suspect in the Bedford home invasion, 32-year-old Charles Normil – who is currently in custody in Massachusetts on similar charges associated with another crime – will face two counts of attempted murder and first degree assault, one count of aggravated felonious sexual and one count of falsifying evidence.
Bedford Patch will continue to follow this developing story as more details are released.
