Here are the 3 top stories today in Bedford:

  1. Blasting started on the Everett Turnpike just north of Exit 13 in Bedford. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced that the blasting of the tall granite rock turnpike wall will continue over the next three months to widen travel lanes. Blasting on the northbound lane is scheduled intermittently on weekdays, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., so expect travel delays in the area. The blasting is taking place on the EF Everett Turnpike just before the intersection of I-293. The $20.5 million project is "scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024." (WMUR)
  2. Don't forget to stop by the Bedford Farmers Market on Tuesdays! Support local farmers and businesses at the Bedford Farmers Market. You will find everything from fresh produce, to cheese, jams, wine, and more. Look for the rows of white tents every Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. from June 14 - Oct. 11, in the Murphy's Taproom parking lot (former Weathervane) at 393 Route 101. (Bedford Farmers Market)
  3. If you fly out of the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, you can expect to see a few upgrades and improvements! The airport will receive more than $4 million for airport terminal improvements and upgrades. It's part of the almost $1 billion bi-partisan Infrastructure Law. The Federal Aviation Administration will be awarding the funding to 85 airports across the country to provide grants that can be used to increase airport capacity, improve energy efficiency, promote competition and make airports more accessible for people with disabilities. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg noted that the federal grants will help improve airports, while also creating jobs in communities across the country. (Subscription/The Union Leader)
