High Winds Take Down Trees And Multiple Power Lines In Bedford
Bedford firefighters contained a brush fire started by trees taking down poles and live off-road transmission lines.
BEDFORD, NH — Bedford firefighters and police responded to a reported brush fire on the Heritage Trail off Moores Crossing Road on Sunday.
When firefighters arrived, they found visible brush burning along off-road electrical transmission lines. Firefighters were immediately found multiple energized power lines on the ground. Several trees from the highlands had fallen and took multiple utility poles, and power lines down to the ground. Fire crews immediately notified Eversource and could not apply any water to the fire due to the live wires.
Firefighters ran hose lines for water supply and used hand tools and water packs to protect adjacent areas to the live power lines. It does not appear there were any power outages in the immediate area, and it is unknown what areas might be affected by power distribution at this time.
