Common items accepted and not accepted include the following:

Accepted Not Accepted Oil-Based Paint Asbestos Stains Explosives Spray Paints Ammunition Paint Thinners Radioactive materials Pesticides Road Flares Cleaning Solvents Lighter Fluids

Items not listed above that may be dropped off at the transfer station on a regular basis include: latex paints, used motor oil, anti-freeze, household batteries and car batteries.

The above, of course, is only a partial list of acceptable items. If you are unsure about the acceptability of any items, please stop by the transfer station prior to Saturday and speak with supervisor Jerome Spooner or contact him at 472-4563.

Also note, upon entering the town garage with your household hazardous waste item(s), do not remove the waste from your vehicle. An attendant will verify if it is an acceptable waste, and if so, will remove the item(s) from your vehicle.

The town reserves the right to reject any liquid, material or substance, which in the opinion of the facility manager, constitutes a serious hazard to other users of the facility, to the property of the town or its employees.
