Here are the top stories in Bedford today:
- Hey everyone, the grass is growing but keep the lawnmower away. In Bedford, it's "No Mow May." The goal is to allow grass to grow and not to mow and create a healthy habitat for early season pollinators, said the Town of Bedford Recreation Department. So, let it grow, let it grow, let it grow — for the month of May. Share the news and spread the good word! (Facebook)
- The hush-hush dealership coming to Bedford on River Road next year is likely a Tesla dealership. The Union Leader said that the developer's application suggests Tesla will be bringing electric cars to Bedford. Tesla already has five locations in Massachusetts, but this would be the first "store" in northern New England. Tesla is fighting laws in states to sell through franchised dealers, but in New Hampshire, a law already allows car manufacturers to sell directly to consumers. (Concord Monitor)
- A shout out to Heather McGrail of Bedford, who has been permanently named CEO of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce! McGrail had been serving as interim CEO. She was selected among 70 applicants for the position. Her role officially starts on May 9. Genella McDonald, chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, said “Heather has performed outstandingly" in the interim role. McGrail is from New Hampshire and studied at Saint Anselm College and lives in Bedford with her family. (Manchester Ink Link)
- Bedford's Chen Yang Li restaurant on River Road is the newest employer of Flash, a shelter beagle from the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire. Flash is an "incredibly sweet" middle-aged mellow fellow. He doesn't live up to his name, and would love nothing more than a loving home where someone is home with him all the time! (Facebook)
Today in Bedford:
- Outdoor Projects. (6:30 p.m.)
- Virtual leen Lecture: Shackleton's Legendary Endurance Expedition, 1914-1917. (7 p.m.)
