Manchester Police Arrest Man After 4-Hour Standoff With SWAT

Justin Murphy, 48, of Manchester is accused of reckless conduct with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, armed career criminal.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police responded to an address on Lake Avenue near Lincoln Street to check for a wanted man on Tuesday.

Police said the wanted person was Justin Murphy, 48, of Manchester had a warrant for reckless conduct with a firearm.

When police officers arrived, they determined Murphy was alone in the apartment. However, he was accused of refusing to come out. Police set up a perimeter and closed Lake Avenue between Wilson and Lincoln streets. Police began to negotiate with Murphy and multiple resources were brought in including SWAT team members and the Bearcat.

Shortly before midnight, Murphy came out and was taken into custody.

The warrant for reckless conduct with a firearm accuses Murphy of firing several rounds in his apartment on Lake Avenue on March 5.

MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel said in addition to the reckless conduct charge, Murphy was charged with felon in possession of a deadly weapon, armed career criminal, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in Hillsborough Superior Court North.
