Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. The Town of Bedford is hiring! And you may be just the right person for the job. Here is a sample of open jobs on the Bedford Town website: The Transfer Station is hiring. We all appreciate being able to bring our trash, compost, yard waste, recyclables — and sometimes large appliances! They are looking to hire a part-time attendant, and the job pays up to $23/hour. The Town Clerk's Office is also looking to fill a part-time position, and if you love reading and books, there is an opening at the Bedford Town Library. The Bedford Police Department is also accepting applications for Bedford's finest — a full-time officer position, and there are many more openings. Find out about other full time, part-time, and seasonal jobs in Bedford here: (Town of Bedford)
  2. If you want to work at the beach this summer, Seacoast Parks has several open positions. New Hampshire Parks is hiring for "rewarding summer jobs" at the beach. It may not be all "sun and fun," they said on their website, but it's "a great experience." They are looking to fill positions in maintenance, park crew, meter patrol, and ocean rescue at all seacoast state parks. To apply, contact Laura.morrissey@dncr.nh.gov or call 227-8722. You can see the Seacoast Beach Lifeguard Schedule and find out more here: (N.H. State Parks)
  3. I have a personal affinity for Greek oregano —and had it in my garden. To my delight (and surprise), it comes up every year. You will find plants of all kinds at Thea annual Bedford N.H. Garden Club Plant Sale on Saturday, May 21 at the Bandstand oval from 11am to 2pm, at a new location: The Bedford Village Common Bandstand, on 15 Bell Hill Road, in Bedford. Hundreds of beautiful plants from members, friends, and New Hampshire growers will be on sale. Organizers said, "It's at a new look, new time, and new location." You canl find more information here.
