NH State Police Detonate 'Suspicious Device' At High School
Update: Several blocks around Central High School on Beech Street in Manchester are closed due to a "suspicious device" investigation.
MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police shut down several city blocks around Central High School on Beech Street on Monday for a possible bomb.
Police put out a warning online and via text to avoid the area of Central High School for "police activity" and a short time later, several additional cruisers blocked off additional areas.
At 12:35 p.m., the city's police call log indicated they were on the scene of a "bomb complaint" at the Central High classical building. Heather Hamel, the public information officer for the police department, said a "suspicious device" was found" on "the Beech Street side" of the school."

New Hampshire State Police Bomb Squad Technicians arrived on the scene and are investigating the incident. A robot could be seen being deployed down Beech Street by the NHSP bomb technicians.
"As a precaution, surrounding streets were shut down and nearby buildings were evacuated," Hamel said. "The scene is still active and police are asking that people stay out of the area at this time."

The high school was not in session on Monday.
At just before 2:30 p.m., state police detonated the suspicious device.
