2 People Dead At Bedford Hotel; Guest Describes 'Machete Attack'

A hotel guest describes "a machete attack" with one man chasing another through the hotel. NH State Police Major Crime Unit at the scene.

BEDFORD, NH — Bedford police, fire, and EMS responded to Country Inn & Suites on South River Road for a medical call Saturday.

Units arrived at about 7:30 p.m. and requested other law enforcement agencies to respond for mutual aid to assist in setting up a perimeter around the hotel. Several area towns and New Hampshire State Police broadcast a “be on the lookout” (BOLO) at about 7:50 p.m. On the BOLO police warned units to be on the lookout for a “tall skinny black male with red hair.”

The BOLO advised the person may have left in a white Hyundai that possibly had decals in the back window. “Officers should use caution (since) the person may have a knife.” They stated this is in regards to a stabbing investigation in Bedford at the town suites, the report said.

At about 8:40 p.m., units were advised to cancel the call and the person was in custody.

Officers from Goffstown, Merrimack, and state police are assisting Bedford at the scene and with calls.

Several guests of the hotel are gathered at the base of the road leading to the hotel and were advised they will not be able to return to the hotel for hours.

UPDATE 1: Two hotel guests described what happened "one man was chasing another man through the hotel. One of the men had a machete and was slashing the other man."

UPDATE 2: NH Attorney General says two people have died and the deaths are being investigated.

"Attorney General John M. Formella, State Police Colonel Nathan Noyes and Bedford Police Chief John J. Bryfonski announce that officials are responding to two suspicious deaths at 250 South River Road, Bedford, New Hampshire."

Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation.

New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit is at the scene and interviewing hotel guests.

Several guests, attempting to access the hotel to check-in, have been turned away.

It is unknown if anyone was transported by ambulance, and Bedford police have not released any information at this time.
