After Threatening to Jump from Bedford Bridge, Person Taken into Custody

Person allegedly threatened to jump over the South River Road bridge in Bedford.

Update (4:55 p.m.): Emergency reports are now stating that the Everett Turnpike, both northbound and southbound, is reopened after a person allegedly threatened to jump from an overpass. That person has reportedly been taken into custody.

Bedford Police have also advised that South River Road has been reopened.

Original Story (4:50 p.m.): As Bedford Police and Fire personnel work to reconstruct and clean up the scene of a serious accident on Route 101 in Bedford, other emergency personnel are being called across town to the South River Road bridge, which serves as an overpass to the Everett Turnpike.

There, a person is reportedly threatening to jump into traffic below, according to an emergency radio alert received by Bedford Patch.

Bedford Police sent out a notice informing drivers of a road closure on South River Road between Hawthorne Drive and Back River Road.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation just sent out a tweet advising commuters to emergency vehicles on the highway under the bridge:
