UPDATE: Two Critically Injured in Head-On Collision
Bedford Police at 7:30 Friday night: Route 101 now open from Wallace Road to Jenkins Road in both directions.
Update (7:38 p.m.): Route 101 is now open from Wallace Road to Jenkins Road in both directions, according to Bedford police.
Update (3:42 p.m.): Freelance photographer Jeffrey Hastings, who is at the scene of a serious two-car collision on Route 101 in Bedford, reports that Bedford Police Chief John Bryfonski said both directions of Route 101, between Wallace Road and Jenkins Road, will be closed for at least two hours while an accident reconstruction team investigates the scene.
Bedford Fire Chief Scott Wiggin told Hastings that two people, one from each vehicle, were each transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester where trauma teams were activated. Both victims are reportedly in critical condition, one with life-threatening injuries.

Manchester Fire was called for mutual aid, and the jaws of life were reportedly used to free both accident victims.
The crash occurred right in front of the Hill-Brook Motel driveway. Bedford Police released the following traffic advisory to those who must commute through the area: Due to serious accident Rt 101 at Wallace Rd closed westbound. Rt 101 at Hardy closed eastbound. Left turn only from Hitching Post Ln and Right turn only from Kahliko Ln. Expect road closure/delays/detours for a couple hours.

Original story (3:13 p.m.): Bedford Police and Fire officials are currently at the scene of a serious motor vehicle accident on Route 101, west of Wallace Road.
According to an emergency radio broadcast, Route 101 is closed at the scene of the accident and an accident reconstruction scene is being requested as two people are reportedly trapped in the wreckage and one is unresponsive.
Bedford Police also sent out a emergency Nixle alert warning drivers to expect delays.
