Seven Bedford Runners Finish Boston Marathon

Here's a list of local results.

Prior to two bombs exploding near Boston's Copley Square – prematurely ending the conclusion of the Boston Marathon – seven Bedford residents completed the race. Five others, according to the Boston Athletic Association website were not allowed to finish.

The overall winner in the men's division this year is Ethiopian runner Lelisa Desisa, who finished in 2:10:22, according to NPR. Rita Jeptoo of Kenya won the women's division with a final time of 2 hours, 26 minutes and 25 seconds.

JD Lavallee was the first Bedford resident to cross the finish line with a time of 2:51:38. Paul Arnold completed the 26.2-mile run a short time later, at 3:05:15.

Haley Lydstone and Sheila Jacks led Bedford women with net times of 3:35:22 and 3:36:03, respectively.

Bedford High School teacher Nadine Palmer, a Derry resident, completed to the marathon in 3:20:41.

* Note that John Santos, according to multiple Facebook replies, wasn't allowed to finish the race, but was safe at home with family last night. Bedford Patch will try to have an update on the other Boston Marathon participants as more information is released.
