Sleet in the Forecast?

Here are 5 things you should know today in Bedford, including this weekend's weather, a flapjack fundraiser and more!

1. Drive Safe, Bedford! The National Weather service has issues a winter weather advisory for much of southern New Hampshire, including Bedford and other areas of Hillsborough County. Roughly an inch of sleet (and possibly a trace of ice) may accumulate on untreated roadways this morning. The advisory is in effect through 5 p.m. this evening, though the wintry mix is expected to begin mid-morning and change to rain in the afternoon. Click here for more information.

2. Speaking of weather .... Here's a look at your weekend forecast courtesy of the National Weather Service. Here's hoping this morning's predicted bit of wintry weather is the last of the season.

  • Friday: Rain and sleet, becoming all rain after noon. Patchy fog after noon. High near 40. East wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
  • Friday Night: Rain, mainly before 1 a.m. Patchy fog. Low around 35. North wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.
  • Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 55.
  • Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

3. Bedford rabies clinic this weekend. Bedford residents are invited to bring their four-legged friends to the Animal Rescue League, on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for a $19 rabies clinic and discounts for Bedford residents for Micro chipping.

4. Flapjack Fundraiser. Eat delicious pancakes for a great cause this Sunday from 8-10 a.m. by heading to Applebee , just over the Bedford border, at 581 Second Street in Manchester. Tickets are $10 a person and can be purchased at the door, and there will be free face-painting for kids. Proceeds with benefit New Hampshire's Hospital for Children. 5. Lace 'em up! On Saturday, May 18, the 39th running of the Bedford Rotary Races will take place at Bedford High School. Register online for the 5K or 12K run through www.rotarybedfordnh.com, or print the application and mail it in. Tees for the first 400 registrants, and walkers are welcome in the 5K.
